Abstract: SALAZAR, JANICE VARIAS. The Peninsula Manila, Corner of Ayala and Makati Avenues, A field study report. Bachelor of Science in Business Management, Major in Marketing, Cavite State University, Indang Cavite, April 2003. Adviser: Mrs. Corazon Buena. A field study was conducted at The Peninsula Manila located at the heart of Makati, the business and commercial center of Manila from December 02, 2002 to February 24, 2003. The field study was conducted to enable the student to apply the knowledge that she gained from school in actual business situations. It was also conducted to provide the student additional knowledge on the Sales and Marketing operations of the company and develop the student’s skills through personal observations and experiences. Data and information were gathered from the files, records and other documentary materials of the firm. In addition, some data were obtained by being watchful and observant of the daily happenings in the firm. Personal experiences and interviews from some of the staff also provided vital information about the firm. A well-structured organization and good management policies have a lot to do with the success of the firm. Good management programs motivate people to work hard for themselves and on behalf of the company. Thus, The Peninsula Manila put a high premium on dedication for work and service, employee development and growth by providing training and education. In this regard, the Sales and Marketing department plays a major role in the hotel since they were considered as important money — making force behind the hotel.
