LISAMA APOLINAR C. JR., MARASIGAN JAY R., and TORRES ERWIN V., GALLUS; The Premium Chicken. An Enterprise Development Project. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Agribusiness. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, April 2003. Adviser, Mr. Oliver C. Fauni.
The study was conducted to apply the knowledge learned in Business Management course and to gain experience in the actual management, marketing, operation and finance of broiler production enterprise. Specifically, it aimed to: analyze the profitability of operating a poultry production; determine the target market of the project; and identify the problems encountered by the business and formulate appropriate solutions.
This study was conducted in Buna Lejos Indang, Cavite from November 25, 2002 to March 05, 2003. The project was primarily concerned with the production of fresh poultry products. The different production activities were: acquisition of feeds and stocks, brooding, medication, sanitation and hygiene maintenance, harvesting, and farm recording. During the period of operation, 600 chickens were raised in two cropping periods.
The major products sold by the enterprise were the live and dressed chickens. Live chickens were sold at P60.00 per kilogram, and dressed chickens were sold at P90.00 per kilogram.
The problems encountered by the entrepreneurs during the conduct of the project were the unavailability of funds, high price of production inputs and high mortality rate during cold season.
