Abstract: VILLETA, SHERRYL P. The Effect of Nucleotides on the Growth Performance of Weaned Piglets. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Animal Science, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2004. Adviser: Dr. Pedro Q. Olabe. A study on the effect of nucleotides on the growth performance of weaned piglets was conducted from October 30 to November 27, 2003 at Villeta's farm in Silang, Cavite to determine the effect of Nuklosan® in terms of growth rate, feed consumption, feed conversion efficiency and monetary return of piglets. Two treatments were used in the study: T1- Control (no supplementation); and T2- Nuklosan® supplementation in feed. These were fed to piglets for four weeks. Piglets supplemented with Nuklosan® had relatively higher (P>0.05) body weight and body weight gain than the unsupplemented ones throughout the four-week feeding period. The former consumed more feeds than the latter in the second (P<0.05) and fourth week (P<0.01) of feeding. Even with increased feed consumption, the supplemented Piglets still attained a relatively better (P>0.05) feed conversion efficiency than the unsupplemented ones. As a result, income from these piglets was slightly higher than their unsupplemented counterparts.
