Abstract: BIDAR, FLORIJANE P., MAPA, JENNIFER L., PANALIGAN, DHEYSI N., Factors Affecting Hypertension in Amaya, Tanza, Cavite. (Special problem, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. February 2006 Advisers: Mrs. Alicia Crystal R.N., and Dr. Josefina R. Rint). This study was conducted to document the identified factors affecting hypertension and to determine which of those, are the main factors causing hypertension in Amaya Tanza Cavite Hypertension was one of the problems in heath nowadays. This was associated with many factors that affect Hypertensive respondents. The study used descriptive research non-experimental design and survey method was used. It focused on factors that affect Hypertension among residents in Amaya Tanza, Cavite. The survey was utilized in data gathering using the questionnaire and interview. The 46 respondents were taken through random sampling method among male and female adults and older adults in Amaya Tanza, Cavite. Those who met the criteria were included in the study, namely, 23 male and 23 female residents of the said Barangay-, at all ages:, cognitively aware no hearing or speech impairment. Age, gender and weight contributed to development of hypertension. Ages 31 to 60 were more affected by hypertension. The older the people are the greater the risk of developing hypertension. The study show that more male have severe hypertension than women, but women, increased their risk, after their menopausal period.. Overweight person are more prone to develop high blood pressure due to large fats deposit in their body.
