Abstract: DY, ROZANNE A. Levies of Subjective Well-being and Life Satisfaction of Out-of-School Youth in Tanza, Cavite.Undergraduate Thesis.Bachelor of Science in Psychology.Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. April 2011. Adviser: Ms. Alma Fatima Reyes. The study was conducted to find out the relationship between Subjective well-Being and Life Satisfaction among out-of-school youths in Tanza, Cavite. Specifically, this study aimed to: 1.) determine the level of subjective-well-being of the respondents in terms of positive affect and negative affect; 2.) determine the level of life satisfaction of the respondents in terms of life domains, which is family, friends, living environment, and self; 3.) Find out the relationship between subjective well-being and life satisfaction of the respondents. A correlational design was used in this study wherein the variables were studied in a sample of 390 out-of-school youths in Tanza, Cavite from December 2010 to February 2011 using self-report questionnaires with Likert-type items. The questionnaire was divided into two (2) parts. The first part was the Positive Affect and Negative Affect Scale composed of 43 items and was used to determine the subjective well-being level of the respondents. The second part is the Multidimensional Life Satisfaction Scale composed of 34 items which was used to identify the respondents' life satisfaction level. The mean responses for each variable were determined, and their relationships were explored using nonparametric correlations. The results revealed that majority (83.6%) of the respondents have average level of subjective well-being. 77.7% have average level of positive affect, and 77.9% have average level of negative affect. It was also revealed that the respondents have high life satisfaction. Same with life domains, the respondents was found to have high satisfaction with family domain; friend domain; living environment domain; and self-domain. Domain satisfaction and life satisfaction are highly correlated. Thus, changes in domain satisfaction are likely to produce changes in life satisfaction. It was found out that there is no significant relationship between subjective well-being and life satisfaction of the respondent. However, subjective well-being was found to be related to family domain satisfaction. The results also showed that there is no significant relationship between positive affect and life satisfaction. Though, positive affect and family satisfaction was found to be significantly related. A correlation between negative affect and life satisfaction was found to be significant. As well negative affect and family satisfaction was found to be related.
