The farm practice was conducted at DA-TechGen Demo Farm located in Tres
Cruses, Tanza, Cavite for 460 hours to enable the student develop technical skills in growing cruciferous vegetables and gain insights on engaging a business involving
production of crucifers. DA-TechGen maintains demonstration projects which develop technologies on vegetable production. The student trainee was exposed in hands-on training activities and practices in producing cruciferous vegetable such as pricking, hardening, transplanting, fertilizer application, pest and weed control, harvesting and also participated in other cultural practices for each kind of vegetable like blanching of cauliflower.
The student was able to identify some problems including absence of protective fence in production area which resulted to destroying of plants by animals especially
chickens. Another problem observed was the presence of weeds in uncultivated ware that
may harbor to insect pest. The student gained knowledge and practiced skills in growing cruciferous vegetables.
