Abstract: PEJI, NOIMIE P., PERSONALITY TYPES, STRESSORS, AND STRESS COPING STRATEGIES OF COFFEE FARMERS IN SELECTED BARANGAYS IN SILANG, CAVITE. Undergraduate Thesis. College of Arts and Sciences. Cavite State University (CvSU), Indang, Cavite. October 2012. Adviser: Ms. Armi Grace B. Desinganio. This study entitled "Personality Types, Stressors and Stress Coping Strategies of Coffee Farmers in Selected Barangays of Silang, Cavite" sought to answer the following: 1) determine the personality type of the coffee farmers in terms of (a) artistic personality, (b) conventional personality, (c) enterprising personality, (d) investigative personality, (e) realistic personality and (f) social personality; 2) determine the stressors between (a) internal stressors and (b) external stressors; 3) determine the stress coping strategy between (a) problem-focused coping and (b) emotion-focused coping; and 4) determine if there is a significant relationship among personality types, stressors and stress coping strategies of the coffee farmers. Descriptive-Correlation research design and statistical measures were used to analyze the data to answer the problems in the study and to find out whether the stated hypotheses are to be accepted or rejected. The sampling techniques used were the purposive and stratified sampling technique. This research finds that personalities of the respondents do not fall into one of the six categories, but rather are blending of investigative, artistic, social, and conventional type, and some have the combination of realistic and enterprising type. However, there are some categories that did not fit to the respondents' personality. It also finds that the stressors under internal and external have low level of stress which means that the respondents have a low to moderate chance of becoming ill either mentally or physically in the near future. The researcher also found out that the coffee farmers in Silang, Cavite much prefer to use the problem-focused coping strategy that involves making decisions, planning, and resolving conflicts than emotion-focused coping strategy. Some of them also used the combination of the two strategies depending in the situation they are encounter. Lastly, the results also revealed that personality type is not significantly related to stressors but significantly related to stress coping strategy. However, it was also revealed that stressors and stress coping strategy is significantly related.
