Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Human Resource Development Management. Cavite State University. April 2013. Adviser: Ms. Illuminada R. Hernandez. The case study was conducted from November 8, 2012 to January 11, 2013 at Rustan's Commercial Corporation located at the 4th floor of Open House Building, Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City. The study sought to determine the attitudes and perceptions of the individuals regarding motivation practices done by the company; it aimed to identify the motivation practices, the most common motivators used by the company; the effects of motivation in employee turnover and to differentiate motivation practices applied to different levels of management in the company. The information with regard to the company history and organizational structure were gathered from the company website (www.rustans.com.ph), manuals of operation, office records, and emails. Information about motivation practices were obtained through interviews and personal observations of the author during the conduct of her study. Rustan's Commercial Corporation is made up of premier chain of upscale department stores. It has a reputation of being a continuous earner with constant achievements and innovations in merchandising, sales, displays, and promotions. The company is composed of experienced professionals in the industry. It has a well-defined organizational structure with clear functions and responsibilities for its employees. The author realized that even in a big company like RCC, motivating employees with different needs and personalities was a difficult task. The motivation practices used by the company were the following: recognition of accomplishment at work through an award scheme, travel incentives, salary increased, discounts, appreciation of work through verbal praises, proper orientation, and job security, good working condition, establishing one-on-one counseling and feedback system and camaraderie. To remain competitive in the business world, the company had no other choice but to continue and enhance its style of motivation practices.
