Abstract: CERVANTES, YOLYN M. Demographic Characteristics, Self Worth and Life Satisfaction of Retired Teachers in Indang, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University. March 2013. Thesis Adviser. Ms. Louziela P. Masana. The study sought to determine the demographic characteristics, self-worth and life satisfaction of retired teachers in Indang, Cavite. It also aimed to determine the predictors of life satisfaction of the retirees. This study was a descriptive correlational study which use total enumeration technique as sampling technique and derived with 82 retired teachers as participants. Ryff s Psychological Well Being Scale as used to measure the level of life satisfaction of the retirees and Crocker's Contingencies of Self-worth Scale as used to measure the level of self-worth of the respondents. Mean, frequency, percentage, standard deviation, point biserial, chi-square, spearman rank correlation ad regression analysis are the statistical tools that were used in this study. Based on the results of the study, majority of the retired teachers in Indang, Cavite are 65 to 69 years old, female, and married, attained the tertiary level for their education and were in good health condition. Further, results revealed that retirees have high level of self-worth and life satisfaction. The relationship of demographic characteristics such as age, civil status, educational attainment and health condition to self- worth level and life satisfaction is found out to have no significant relationship. Hence, the relationship between gender and self- worth is found to be not significantly related but for life satisfaction is found to be significantly related. Moreover, the relationship between level of self -worth and life satisfaction found to be no significant relationship and it was also found out that the predictors of life satisfaction of retired teachers were gender, and some of the sub-variable of self -worth which were approval from others and competition.
