Abstract: BLANCO, REA ANNE M., HERNANDEZ, EMERALD ROSE D., PAGAO, HAZEL M. "Profile, Employment Status, and Perceived Curriculum Efficacy of BS Criminology Graduates Batches 2010-2013 of the College of Criminal Justice-Cavite State University, Main Campus." Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Criminology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2014. Adviser: Ms. Marissa C. Lontoc. The main objective of the study is to determine the graduate's profile in terms of age, gender, civil status and nature of employment and to verify the employment status of the graduates in terms of eligibility, position/designation, department/agency/company, length of service, status of appointment/employment, relation to the field of specialization, job satisfaction, professional adjustment and monthly salary. In addition, it is also determined the relationship of profile to employment status of BS Criminology graduates It is also intended to determine the perceived curriculum efficacy of the graduates in terms of college training. Lastly, it also determined the problems encountered by the graduates in seeking employment in terms of qualifying examination, interview and experience. Data were collected with the aid of standardized questionnaire taken from Ms. Herrera (2011), who also conducted a tracer study. The statistical measures used were the frequency and percentages, mean and standard deviation, spearman rank correlation coefficient, point biserial correlation coefficient and chi-square test. In general, there were 19 participants who are employed which was equivalent to 46.3 percent while, 53.7 percent or 22 participants were unemployed. As it is revealed, the number of unemployed is greater than the number of employed graduates. Findings revealed that age has a significant relationship to the eligibility of the graduates; also it revealed that profile had no relationship to the employment status of the graduates. Results reveal that majority of the BS Criminology graduates of batch 2010-2013 were 22 to 23 years old, female, and single. In terms of the employment status, the results reveal that majority of the graduates were unemployed and employed graduates were working for one year but less than two years. Most of them were temporary and contractual and somewhat dissatisfied with their jobs. However, graduates job is very much related to their field of specialization. There were still graduates who were unemployed due to some reasons like: lack of time and they are caught unprepared for various examinations (written and oral) that they need to undergo to be hired. The graduates perceived curriculum efficacy in terms of adequacy of curriculum, faculty competence and instructional facilities and equipment as effective and adequate. The researchers would like to suggest that the college should conduct a career enhancement program for the Criminology students to understand the different career opportunities that lie after graduation. It is also recommended that the CVSU Job Placement should provide hands on resume and application writing classes with mock job interview.
