Abstract: GARCIA, KIABI M. Saving and Spending Behavior of Households in Cities of Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management, major in Financial Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2014. Adviser: Mrs. Ludivinia F. Victorino. The study aimed to determine the demographic profile of households in cities of Cavite; describe the spending behavior of households in cities of Cavite; describe the savings behavior of households in cities of Cavite; determine the relationship between households' spending behavior and demographic characteristics; and determine the relationship between households' saving behavior and demographic characteristics. The participants of the study were 156 household members in all cities of Cavite, namely: Bacoor City, Cavite City, Dasmarifias City, Imus City, Tagaytay City, and Trece Martires City. Mean and frequency count were used to describe the demographic profile of the participants. Likert scale was used to determine the level of implementation of the saving and spending behavior of the participants. Spearman Rank Correlation was used to measure the relationship between household members' saving and spending behavior to demographic profile. Results showed that there was no significant relationship between the participants spending behavior and demographic profile while it was revealed that saving behavior was significantly related to income, which indicates that income was statistically significant to household saving behavior and large and rapid increase in income tended to raise the rate of household saving because households capacity to save increases with household income.
