Matel The farm practice was conducted at CAFFMACO Piggery Farm, in Brgy. Pinagsanjan B, Maragondon, Cavite from November 19, 2013 to February 22, 2014. The main objective of the farm practice was to provide the student with experience in swine breeding and management practices. The student-practitioners participated in daily farm activities in breeding and management of the hogs. CAFFMACO Piggery Farm has a total population of 1,933 camborough breeds. Their market hogs are sired by a duroc boar. The farm practices ad libitum feeding in weaners and fatteners and restricted feeding in boars. There is a separate feeding program for sows and gilts. The farm also implemented artificial insemination. Pens, equipments and facilities were all cleaned and disinfected. Prevention and treatment of diseases were observed. There are hospital pens for isolation of sick hogs. Proper vaccination and vitamin supplementation, especially in pregnant sows and piglets, were provided. Hogs are priced and marketed on a live weight basis. During the farm practice, the farm has a gross income of P 1,003, 180.00.
