Abstract: DUALAN, CAMILLE H. and HERNANDEZ, JANE E. Development of Mobile Application for Information Dissemination of the Top Ten Illnesses Causing Mortality. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2015. Adviser: Ms. Charlotte B. Carandang. The study was conducted from June 2014 to February 2015 at Cavite State University (CvSU) Indang, Cavite. It generally aimed to develop a mobile application for information dissemination of the top 10 illnesses causing mortality with the integration of android technology. Specifically it aimed to identify the problems encountered by conducting interview, analyze the problems identified using Ishikawa diagram, design the mobile application capable in performing the functions being proposed by the developer using use case diagram, develop a mobile application using Java and PRP as the programming language, SQLite for the database and Eclipse for the design of the application, and evaluate the application through unit and acceptance testing. The methodology used by the proponents was the Extreme Programming (XP). It consists of four phases; planning, designing, coding and testing. The respondents who evaluated the application based on its functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability and portability were 80 students, 10 instructors and 10 nurses. The results were tabulated, analyzed and statistically treated using mean and standard deviation. Based on the results, the application wac assessed as excellent which proves that the objectives and requirements of the application were achieved. In accordance with the results of the study, the development of mobile application for information dissemination of the top ten illnesses causing mortality can he a solution to the identified problems. The following were recommended for further improvement and enhancement of the system; include images of each disease in the disease dictionary if necessary and appropriate, include audio for the disease dictionary discussing the description, causes, signs and symptoms, mode of transmission and prevention of the top ten illnesses causing mortality and other information in the application for those who are blind and have blurred vision, and include additional module for saving the history of searched and viewed diseases in the disease dictionary.
