Abstract: MHEINETH T. LUNETA. Gender wage Gap Among Faculty Members of Cavite State University. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2013. Adviser: Dr. Nelia C. Cresino. The study was conducted in Cavite State University Main Campus, Indang, Cavite from November 2012 to February 2013. Specifically, it aimed to (1) describe the socio-economic characteristics of faculty members of CvSU; (2) describe the employment of faculty members of CVSU; (3) determine the gender wage gap of male and female faculty members of CVSU; and (4) determine the relationship between wages of male and female faculty members and the selected variables such as age, marital status, number of dependents, household size, educational attainment, and employment status and years of experience. One hundred seventy-three faculty members were used as participants in the study. Data used in the study were gathered through validated questionnaire that was distributed to the faculty members. Frequency counts, percentages and means were used in presenting the data. Multiple regression was also used to determine the relationship between the wage gap and the selected variables such as age, marital status, number of dependents, household size, educational attainment, employment status and years of experience. It was found out that majority of the participants (64%) were female. The mean age of the participants was 46 and most of the participants were married. Almost one third (30%) of the participants earned Ph.D. The number of household size of the participants ranged from one to ten members and majority of the participants had one dependent. The data showed that majority of the participants (80%) were permanent and had an average of 20 years in service. The income of the faculty members ranged from P 19,940 to P82,478 with an average of P35,666. Majority of the participants (63%) earned from PI 9,940 to P32,448 monthly. It was found out that there is no significant difference between income of male and female faculty members in Cavite State University, which means that the income of both male and female participants were just the same.Three sets of regressions were run where data on male and female faculty members were separated and the other one was the combined data of male and female participant. The result of multiple regression showed that socio-economic characteristics such as number of dependents, educational attainment and years in service were found to be significantly related to income of male faculty members. Age, educational attainment and years in service were found to be significantly related to income of female participants. Results showed that among seven variables under socio-economic characteristics and employment status of male and female faculty members, the age, number of dependents, educational attainment and years in services were found to be significantly related to wage gap of faculty members in Cavite State University
