Abstract: PEPA, MIKAELA Z. and RELLEGUE, VIRGINETTE S., Development of an Automated Small-Scale Kaong Sugar Maker. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. December 2016. Adviser: Prof. Florence M. Banasihan. The study was conducted to develop the automated small-scale kaong sugar maker. The project aimed to help kaong sugar makers to make sugar production faster and to reduce the cost of having separate labor. The general objective of the study was to develop an automated small-scale kaong sugar maker. The study specifically aimed to design and construct a microcontroller circuit for the system; design and fabricate automated sugar maker; develop a software for the system; test and evaluate the system through pilot testing; and conduct a cost computation for the system. The materials that were used in the study were: microcontroller unit, thermocouple temperature sensor, planetary mixer, cooling fan, wiper motor, gas stove, LCD, toggle switch, and relays. Automated small-scale kaong sugar maker can able to produce sugar in small-scale faster than the manual process. Boiling, cooling, and mixing are the major process developed for the system. Result of the evaluation showed that based from the evaluated speed, quantity, and quality, the automated sugar maker was considered desirable and effective compared to manual process of kaong sugar production. The study was proven effective on its capability to meet its objectives. Thus, it helps to present the advantages in performance of the automated kaong sugar maker and make it a more reasonable choice as a process of small-scale Kaong sugar production. The automated small-scale kaong sugar maker had a total cost of Php 39, 382.00.
