Abstract: AUSTRIA, JOANNE B. and RISION, JUDITH C. Impormasyon para sa Simple at Importanteng Pangunang Lunas: An Android Based Informatics. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Mr. Marlon R. Perena. The study was conducted to develop a mobile application used to provide information on how to give proper first aid procedures on selected injuries/illnesses. The software was developed to cater information on first aid procedures, various injuries/ illnesses which could be treated temporarily before the medical help arrive, and also the proper preparation and application of these procedures to meet its affectivity in temporary curing of injuries/illnesses. The system is consists of three (3) modules: impormasyon module with three (3) sub modules: layunin, pumili sa talaan and terminolohiya, pick quiz game module and gabay sa app module. Impormasyon module focused on the three sub modules: layunin sub module gives an ideas about the objectives and scope and limitation of giving a first aid. Pumili sa talaan sub module includes the definition, symptoms and first aid procedure for the basic illnesses/injuries and terminolohiya sub module which serves as a dictionary for medical/anatomical terms; Pic-k quiz game module for the entertainment of the user and to test their knowledge in giving the proper first aid procedure; Gabay sa App module displays the guidelines, date developed and version of the application. Through the help of the system, people would be aware of some basic first aid procedures. The system was also used to inform its users the importance of these first aid procedures prior to professional medical help. The system was developed through the use of different development tools which include the following: PhoneGap for codes development, HTML5, CSS and JavaScript for the programming language, Android Developers Tool (ADT) as the Application Programming Interface (API), Virtual Box for the emulator, Adobe Photoshop CS6 for the design of the mobile application, Microsoft Word 2010 for documentation, and Microsoft Excel for creating diagrams. The methodology used by the researchers was incremental methodology which consists of five (5) phases: planning/requirement phase, analysis and design, implementation, testing, and evaluation. The system was evaluated by 100 participants including the Red Cross Cavite Chapter staff/members, nurse, instructors from the College of Nursing and from Department of Information Technology and selected students of Cavite State University. They evaluated the system based on its functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and portability. The results were tabulated, analyzed, and statistically treated using mean and standard deviation. Based on the results, the system was assessed as excellent which proved that it provides the proper function needed. The objectives and requirements of the system achieved could be a solution to the identified problems gathered through interview. The data gathered through different libraries was reliable and useful for learning more about first aid procedures. The application was efficient and could be used anytime and anywhere.
