Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2017. Adviser: Irvin dL. Matel, DVM,MSc. The swine production project was conducted at Brgy. De Ocampo, TreceMartires City, Cavite from February 10 to May 08, 2017. The project aimed to perform the management practices involved in reaching fattener hogs, apply agribusiness practices in swine production and, derive profit from a small-scale hog fattening project. The swine production project used eight weanlings with an average weight of 13.2 kg, which were purchased from a backyard farm at Brgy. De Ocampo, TreceMartires City, Cavite. The feeds were bought from a feed supply at Brgy. Bagtas, Tanza, Cavite. The project involved different activities starting from the preparation of the housing and equipment, purchase of stocks and feeds, waste management as well as harvesting and marketing. At the end of rearing period, the project incurred a total cost of Php60,886with the total sales of Php 70,750. It realized a net income of Php 9,864.00 from the eight hogs sold on live weight basis. The return on investment (ROI) was 16.20%. The hogs recorded 654 grams on average daily gain and feed conversion efficiency of 2.72. The project was profitable, and it enabled the student entrepreneur to gain managerial and operational skills through actual operation.
