Abstract: CRUZ, MICHAEL JOHN C. and AGUADO JARREN P. Proposed Design of a Four-Story Public Market in Cavite City Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Cavite State University. Indang, Cavite. March 2017. Adviser: Engr. Rico C. Asuncion. The proposed design of a four-story public market in Cavite city were conducted from June 2016 to March 2017 at Cavite State University. The objectives of the study were to provide the structural analysis and structural and architectural plan of the said facility including the electrical and plumbing layout, determine the cost estimate of the proposed building, and to provide tarpaulin to showcase the study. The Engineering Software STAAD (Structural Aided Analysis and Design) was used in the analysis of structural framework. The guidelines set by the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP) were followed in the design computation. It was found out that the site location of the said building has a very low value of soil bearing capacity, thus, this research designed the footing with pile foundation to improve the capacity and prevent the foundation of the building for further settlement. The existing building as of the time being of conducting this research has a small area that can accommodate the continuously growing population of Cavite City, with this matter, the proposed building has four floors designated as wet section, fruit, vegetable and flower section, grocery section and non-food items section. Due to the provision for newly constructed public markets, it was mandatory to include a slaughter house/room in the design consideration thus, the research has considered the design of the slaughter house/room located in the first floor of the building. Based on the study, the architectural plan, structural analysis and structural plan, the electrical and plumbing layout of the four-story public market in Cavite City was provided following the procedures and other requirements as per NSCP and National Building Code of the Philippines standards. Also, the cost estimate of the proposed building was determined excluding the electrical and plumbing works. The tarpaulin was also provided for the showcase of the study. Based on the results of the study, the authors recommended that future researchers provide the detailed elevations, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and sections of the slaughter house/room and material segregation facility of the proposed public market.
