Abstract: RODRIGUEZ, ELLA JEAN Q. Confluence of Factors Associated with Academic Performance of College Students with Overseas Filipno Worker-Parents in Occidental Mindoro. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in International Studies major in European Studies. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Dr. Antonio G. Papa. The study was conducted to determine the confluence of factors associated with academic performance of college students with Overseas Filipino Worker-parents in Occidental Mindoro. A descriptive-correlation research along with 150 college students located in selected municipalities within the province of Occidental Mindoro was employed. The age of participants consists of 18 years and below and most of them were females. Many were second year of college and came from the college of business and management. They only had one number of sisters and brothers, and this confirmed as eldest and second member of the family. Their allowances were ranging from Php 2,000 to 3,999 with a mean of Php 2, 935 per month. Results of the study showed that participants read books and magazines at home but many declined to read newspapers. More than half of them had television set and used more than 3 to 4 number of equipment at home, and cell phone came out as the most common used form of communication between OFW and their children. A lot of them were studying in school, stayed in one place and took 1 to 3 hours of study time. After school, they go straight to home and remain in one place. Findings of the study reported that group activities were the most problem they encounter”school As to their personal adjustment, their most used coping mechanism in hard situation found were positive reappraisal with a mean of 3.55. However, there is high level of school motivation found as facilitating condition got the highest mean of 4.16. Most of them obtained ‘fair’ score academically (59.3%) with an average mean of 84.37. Results of the study revealed that the colleges in socio-demographic profile had significant relationship with the academic performance of the participants. The findings also showed significant relationship between home environment factors like devices/gadgets/appliances and study time of the participants and their performance at school. Likewise, facilitating conditions has significant relationship with the college students with OFW parents and academic performance. On the other hand, problem faced like in group activities found to have significant relationship. As well as in school motivation such as seeking social support, accepting responsibility and positive reappraisal has a significant relationship between participants' academic performance. Overall outcome of this study showed that only the personal school adjustment of the participants has a significant relationship in academic performance.
