The entrepreneurial project was conducted in the Animal Production Project, Department of Animal Science, Cavite State University-Main Campus, Indang Cavite from February 9 to May 4, 2017. This project enabled the student to enhanced knowledge and skills in hog raising, acquired entrepreneurial skills, dealt with problems that affected the management of hogs, and assessed the different swine production parameters in relation to the profitability of the enterprise.
The four hogs attained an average final weight of 81.3 kg with an average total gain in weight of 63.3 kg. The average daily gain (ADG) was 0.744 kg. Each hog consumed 187.5 kg of feeds and obtained an average of feed conversion efficiency 2.98. The project lasted for 85 days.
The total production cost was P32,413.50. The gross sales was P40,064.00 resulting to a net profit of P7,650.50. The project had a return of investment (ROE) of 23.60 %.
