Abstract: CHRIST JHON V. MANALO. Awareness and Sensitivity of Employees on Workplace Bullying in Selected BPO Companies in the National Capital Region. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Human Resource Development Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2018. Adviser: Ms. Mary Grace A. Ilagan. The study was conducted from January to June 2018 at selected BPO companies in the Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay city such as EXL, VXI, Conduent, TSA and Telstra Teletech to determine the awareness and sensitivity of employees on workplace bullying. Specifically, the study intended to: I . describe the sociodemographic profile of the employees as to age, sex, length of service and educational attainment; 2. identify the types of workplace bullying encountered by the employees; 3. describe the level of awareness of the employees on workplace bullying; 4. determine the strategies of employees in handling workplace bullying in terms of accommodating, avoiding, collaborating and compromising; 5. describe the level of performance of the employees in terms of attendance and punctuality, knowledge of the job, compatibility and cooperation, initiative and dependability and relationship with co-worker; 6. examine the effects of the level of awareness in workplace bullying on employees' job performance. Quota sampling technique was used in determining the sample size of the total employees for each company. Frequency count, mean, and percentage were used in describing the sociodemographic profile of the call center agents who served as the participants of the study, the types of bullying encountered, and the strategies employed in handling bullying in the workplace. In addition, weighted mean and standard deviation were utilized in presenting the level of awareness of the participants as well as their job performance. Moreover, predictive statistics was also employed to test the effect of the level of awareness on workplace bullying on the employees' job performance. The result of the study showed that employees were aware of the presence of workplace bullying in their workplace. Based on the findings, the employees used the strategies such as observing the behavior of colleagues and showing more sensitivity on how to approach others that were found to be very useful to avoid workplace bullying. It was also revealed that there is a highly positive significant predictive relationship between the level of awareness and job performance. This implies that being highly aware on workplace bullying causes positive changes on job performance. Hence, it can be recommended to conduct external campaign relative to workplace bullying.
