Undergraduate thesis, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Major in Animal Science. Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. May 2018. Adviser. Dr.Irvin DL. Matel. The study was conducted at Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite at the Department of Animal Science from March 2018 to April 2018. It aimed to: (1) determine the rate of biting lice mortality at different hours after the application of Metarhizium; (2) determine the efficacy of Metarhizium to the different sex of biting lice; (3) and differentiate the effect of spray and dipping method of MetarhLium to goat biting lice. Efficacy of Metarhizium applied by dipping and spraying was evaluated in vitro. Three treatments were used: To — control, Ti — commercial pesticide, and T2 — metarhizium. Three hundred each of male and female goat biting lice were randomly distributed to three treatments replicated ten times with ten lice per replication. Efficacy was evaluated by determining lice mortality expressed as percentage determined for three days at 6-hour interval. The result of the study showed significant effects (P<0.05) on the mortality of biting lice for both sexes and methods of application at the 6th, 18th, 24th, 30th, 36th and 42nd hour of application. Mortality rate was significantly increased. Highly significant (P<0.01) interactions were observed with treatments and methods of application at the 24th and 30th hour after application. Insignificant interaction effects of treatments, sex and methods of application were observed except at the 12th hour of the second day when mortality is significantly (P<0.0 1) higher than the control group. Overall, results show that Aletarhizium is effective in controlling biting lice of both sexes by spraying and dipping method. Thus, can be considered a substitute for commercial pesticides for Biting Lice (Damalinia caprae) like Sevin.
