Abstract: BAUTISTA EARL ELVIN L., BUSTAMANTE ALAIZA A., CENIZAL JASMINE ANNE MONET B. Loan Utilization and Payment Performance on Agricultural Loan of Selected Pineapple Farmers in Upland Cavite. Undergraduate thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management, major in Financial Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2019. Adviser: Prof. Gener T. Cueno. The study was undertaken to determine the loan utilization and payment performance of selected pineapple farmers in Upland Cavite. The study aimed to: (1) determine the socio-economic characteristics of selected pineapple farmers in Upland Cavite: (2) determine the characteristics of loans granted to pineapple farmers; (3) determine if the pineapple farmers utilize their loans for farming or for personal use; (4) determine the payment performance of the pineapple farmers; (5) determine the relationship between the socio-economic profile and payment performance of the pineapple farmers; (6) determine the relationship between the loan characteristics and payment performance of the pineapple farmers; (7) determine if there's a difference in the payment performance when loan is utilized for farming or for personal purposes and; (8) determine the problems encountered by the pineapple farmers in terms of paying their agricultural loans. The descriptive and correlation research design were employed in this study. Primary data were collected through interviews with 170 pineapple farmers in Upland Cavite using an interview schedule. Frequency counts, percentages, range, mean, ETA Value, Mann-Whitney U and Chi-Square were used. Findings of the study revealed that most of the respondents belonged to the age 40 49 and majority of them are male. Seventy-eight percent of them were married and most of them reached college level. The average family size was 6 and majority of them earned P 2,000.00 to P 102,999.00 per harvest. Thirty-nine percent of the respondents had no additional income. Majority of the pineapple farmers received loans ranging from P 6,000.00 to P 300,000.00 with an average of P 85,729.00 per pineapple farmer, with an interest rate of 36 percent. Most of them paid on time with an average of 16 months loan maturity. Selected pineapple farmers in Upland Cavite mostly used their agricultural loans solely for farming purposes while minority of them used their loans both for farming and personal purposes. The payment performance of selected pineapple farmers in Upland Cavite was relatively good. It means that most of them paid their loans during maturity date. No significant relationship was found between all socio-economic profiles variables and payment performance on agricultural loan of selected pineapple farmers in Upland Cavite. This indicate that the profile of pineapple farmers such as age, sex, civil status, educational attainment, family size, dependent children, farm size, years in farming and farm income did not influence the payment performance on agricultural loan. The result showed that payment performance of pineapple farmers is not affected whether they used their loans for farming or for personal purposes.
