This study was conducted to: (a) describe the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of: age, gender, civil status, educational attainment, number of years in service; (b) describe the elementary school profile in terms of: number of students, number of teachers, number of years in operation and classification (public or private), (c) identify the facility maintenance practices used by the school: (d) identify the problems encountered by the school on facility maintenance; and (e) propose improvements that would contribute to the achievement of the better facility
management. The study was conducted in Trece Martires City and Indang, Cavite. Primary data were gathered through personal interviews using a prepared questionnaire. Secondary data were gathered from the internet, books, journals, different articles and past research to get information about the topic to further support the idea of the study.
The researchers used the descriptive method for this study and considered 82 schools through purposive sampling. The participants in this Study were the principal or property custodian of the school. The researchers gathered the data using survey
questionnaire. Frequency, percentage, and Mann Whilitney were used as a statistical tool to fully understand the result of the survey.
In terms of the difference between the facilities maintenance practices of both public and private, there are no differences because the practices they were using are from the set of standards from the Department of Education. The results shows that there was no significant differences in both public and private elementary schools in terms of emergency repairs, improvement, space planning and utilization. For predictive maintenance, preventive maintenance and routine maintenance there was a significant differences between public and private
schools
