The entrepreneurial project was conducted in Barangay Alulod, Indang, Cavite from December 1, 2019 to March 11, 2019. This project enabled the student to gain additional knowledge and skills in hog fattening, engage in different swine production parameters in relation to the profitability of the enterprise and to gain profit from swine enterprise. This entrepreneurial development project was a course requirement and aimed to provide a venue for enhancing practical skills and also gaining additional knowledge in backyard hog fattening business. The entrepreneurial project helped the student to apply the skills in managing a backyard swine business and apply techniques learned in the classroom.
This project was a sole-proprietorship type of business. The initial weight of the hog was 19kg and the final weight was 91.38 kg after 87 days of rearing. The project had a feed conversion of efficiency (FCE) of 2.89, and an average daily gain of 831.95g. The hogs were marketed on March 11, 2019 with a gross income of P42, 955.50 at 117 pesos per kilo in live weight basis. The total cost of production was P41, 937.50 resulting to a net income of P1,018.00. This project had a return on investment (ROT) of 2.43%.
