This entrepreneurial project in backyard hog fattening was conducted from December 08, 2018 to March 27, 2019 to experience actual hog fattening, enhance and acquire skills in backyard swine raising and gain profit. The project consisted of five weanlings properly managed for 110 days. At the end of the project, the weanlings with an initial weight of 17.6 kg ended up weighing an average body weight of 93 kg. The stocks were fed three times a day, 7:00 a.m., 12:30 noon. and 5:30 p.m., the pigpen was cleaned in the morning and in the afternoon. Animal manure was collected in the pit.
The fattened hog was sold at the price of P116 kg live weight in CAFFMACO, Silang, Cavite, The hogs obtained an average gain in weight of 75.50 kg, cumulative average daily gain of 686.36 g and cumulative feed consumption of 190 kg. The cumulative feed conversion efficiency was 2.51. The project total production cost was P46, 697.50 with gross sales amounting to P52, 190.00 and a net income of P4, 672.00, the return on investment (ROI) was 9.78%
