Abstract: RAMOS, EDGARDO MIGUEL R. BACKYARD HOG FATTENING PROJECT IN CALUMPANG CERCA, INDANG, CAVIT: AN ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT. Bachelor in Agricultural Entrepreneurship Major in Animal Production. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. Adviser: Dr. Cristina F. Olo The project was conducted at Calumpang Cerca, Indang, Cavite, on December 19, 2018 to April 11, 2018. The student aimed to gain more knowledge and acquire actual skills in hog fattening in terms of actual operation and management, develop and apply entrepreneurial skills while also gaining profit from backyard hog fattening project. This hog fattening project reared four piglets with an average initial weight of 17.5kg. They were fed 200 kg of starter pellet and 500 kg of grower pellet with a total feed consumption of 700 kg. The average final weight of the hogs was 90.25 kg with an average gain in weight of 72.75 kg. The average daily gain of the four hogs was 91.94 g with a feed conversion efficiency of 3.09. One of the hogs weighing 90 kg was sold live weight basis at ₱130.00 per kg and the other hog weighing 70 kg was sold dressed weight basis at ₱150.00 per kg. Two remaining hogs were allowed to grow for another 18 days until they reached an average weight of 85.9 kg at a price of ₱120.00 per kg live weight. The total cost of production which include hogs, feeds, miscellaneous, and other expenses was ₱38,131.60. The gross sales was ₱43,820.00 and realized a net income of ₱5,688.40 with a return of investment of 14.92%.
