Abstract: CUENCO, GELLEENA KATE Me, DELA CRUZ, KARLA MAE R., and RELLIBO, PATRICIA MARIE T. Health benefits of physical activity among older adults in Mendez, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Sports and Recreational Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite December 2019* Adviser: Victor F. Piores. The study was conducted to know the perceived health benefits from physical activity by the senior citizens in the selected barangays of Mendez, Cavite. It also sought to know the level of physical activity of these citizens. In addition, it wanted to know the significant difference of these perceived health benefits when the citizens are grouped according to their demographic characteristics. The relationship of the level of physical activity of these citizens, and their perception on the health benefits derived from physical activity is also determined. Descriptive method of research was used in the study in which the survey questionnaire was the means to collect the data needed for the study. The sample size of the participants was 310 which was obtained from the population size using the slovin's formula. Most of the elder citizens of Mendez, Cavite were at the age of 60 to 75 years old, there were more female than mate there, majority of them earned tess than P5,OOO monthly. There were only few who have reached college level or college graduates. Most are either up to high school level or high school graduate and elementary level or elementary graduate. The senior citizens of Mendez can be described to be moderately active only when it comes to doing any form of physical activity daily. Most of them spend only 12 to 17 minutes per day in doing anything that required physical activity. These citizens believed that engaging in any physical activity provides them health benefits such as lowering the risk of heart disease or diabetes. The views of these citizens with regards to health benefits from doing physical activity did not change even if they are grouped according to their age, gender, monthly income and educational attainment. They see it to be beneficial. Likewise, said perception did not change when they are grouped within their age groups, their sex, their monthly income bracket, and their educational attainment. There may be differences within each but the said variations are too small to be given any consideration; in order words, they appeared to be the same and equal. It was found that the relationship between the citizen's level of physical activity has nothing to do with their perceived health benefits out of being physically active. The relationship between these two variables was too small to be looked upon.
