Feliciano. : The study was conducted in the cities of General Trias, Imus and Dasmarifias, from January to February 2019 to determine the spending and saving allocation of local government retirees in selected cities of Cavite. Specifically, the : study aimed to determine the demographic characteristics and spending and saving allocation of the local government retirees. Also, the study aimed to look into the significant difference in spending and saving allocation based on the participants’ demographic characteristics. Correlation and descriptive methods were used in the study wherein the questionnaire was used as a tool in conducting the interviews with the 72 local government retirees. Total enumeration method was used in the selection of participants. Frequency counts, mean and percentage were used in describing the demographic characteristics of the local government retirees. Kruskal Wallis test was used to determine the significant difference in spending and saving allocation based on the participants’ demographic characteristics. The number of male local government retirees was greater than the number of female retirees. Most of the retirees were married, with an average of 68 years old, college graduates and had an average length of service of 21 years. The study also revealed that the retirees usually receive an average of P 15,000 monthly pension. Most of the participants allocated their monthly pension on food and housing expenses. Very few were spending on clothing and leisure. Majority of them are still providing an allowance for their grandchildren. In terms of healthcare expenses, utmost number of the retirees took medicines for maintenance, yet few visited hospitals and clinics for regular check-up. The study also revealed that most of the participants do not have debt to pay. A high percentage of the participants are still saving at home and a low percentage of the participants are still saving in banks. Lastly, most of the retirees do not allocate their monthly pension on informal savings (paluwagan), real property, business, and insurance.
