Abstract: EMELO, AILEEN C. Backyard swine production in Naic, Cavite: An Entrepreneurial Development Project. Bachelor in Agricultural Entrepreneurship major in Animal Production. Cavite State University, Cavite Philippines. June 2019. Adviser: Dr. Mariedel L. Autriz. The entrepreneurial development project was conducted at Daang NIA rd., Palangue Central, Naic, Cavite from December 02, 2018 to March 17, 2019. The project raised four fattening hogs that exposed the students to the actual management of hogs from purchasing of stocks up to the marketing. It is where the entrepreneurial skills of the student were applied to show how profitable hog fattening is. The cost and return was assessed to prove the profitability of the fattening project. Four fattening hogs, with an average initial weight of 13.875 kilograms, were bought from Calumpang Cerca, Indang, Cavite. The hogs consumed 5 kilograms of pre- starter pellet, 150 kilograms of starter pellet and 425 kilograms of grower pellet and 100 kilograms of finisher pellet or a total of 680 kilograms for 96 days. The four fattening hogs had an Average Daily Gain and Feed Conversion Efficiency of 738.28 grams and 2.4, respectively. After 97 days of production, the pigs had an average final weight of 84.75 and a total final weight of 339 kilograms. They were sold to a meat vendor at Palangue 2, Naic, Cavite for P130.00 per kilogram live weight. The project gained an income of P9,113.18 with an ROI of 25.97%.
