The study, entitled "In Vitro Anthelminthic Activity of Mani-mani Plant (Arachis pint01)
Against Ascaris suum in Selected Slaughterhouse of Cavite", was conducted at the Department
of Medical Technology-College of Nursing, Cavite State University Main Campus Indang, Cavite
from May 2019 to August 2019. The study generally aimed to examine and determine the effect
of the stem and leaf extracts of Arachis pintoi against Ascaris suum when used in different
concentrations as well as to determine if there is significant difference in the activity between
the stem and leaf extracts of Arachis pintoi against Ascaris suum and to identify if the
concentration of each stem and leaf are related to the survival rate of Ascaris suum. The Mani-
mani plant (Arachis pintoi) was collected from Bagtas, Tanza, Cavite. The stem and leaf of
Arachis pintoi were soaked in 70% ethanol then extracted using rotary evaporation in Cavite
State University Research Center. The Ascaris suum that was used in the study was collected
in selected slaughterhouse of Cavite.
The result of the study therefore concluded that the efficacy of the extract
depends on the amount of its concentrations, the greater the concentration of the extracts, the
higher mortality rate may be observed in a span of time. And also, stem of Arachis pinto/ has
faster and greater effect than the leaf extract of A;achjs pintoi. Based on the findings, 100%
concentration of the stem of Arachis pintoi are the most effective yielding the highest modality
fate and efficacy as compared to the positive control group.
