Abstract: TORDECILLA, JESSEY LOU C. Applied Research IV (General Science Curriculum), Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, April 1998, “Survey on the Utilization of Biogas Digesters in CALABARZON Farms”. Adviser: Dr. Cristeta M. Montano The study entitled “Survey on the Utilization of Biogas Digesters in CALABARZON Farms” was conducted in the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon from November 1997 to January 1998. It aimed to (1) determine the extent of utilization of biogas digesters in these farms, (2) list the benefits farms/farm owners get in the utilization of biogas digesters, (3) determine the problems encountered by these farms/farm owners in using the biogas digesters, and (4) evaluate if there are significant differences in the number of benefits gained and problems encountered when the farms/farm owners involved are grouped according to the extent of utilization of the biogas digesters. The study involved twenty-one respondents, out of the twenty-eight farms/farm owners enumerated by the Affiliated Non-conventional Energy Center (ANEC) in Cavite State University. Results show that the higher the extent of utilization, the higher the number of benefits gained and problems encountered by the respondents. It was also found that the number of benefits gained and problems encountered differ when the respondents were grouped according to the extent of utilization. In general, biogas technology is applicable not only in CALABARZON area but to all farms with abundant source of farm residues.
