Abstract: BAUZON, Diana C., Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, October 2008. Effect of Chick Boost"' on the Performance of Cobb Vantress Broilers. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. Adviser: Dr. Eugene M. Principe. The study was conducted to determine the effects of Chick Boost® on hatchlings given immediately upon loading into the farm at day one based on body weight gain, feed consumption, and weekly feed conversion rate (FCR), morbidity rate and mortality rate. Four thousand broiler chicks were used in the study, divided into two treatments each with two replicates. Chicks in Treatment 1 received Chick Boost® while chicks in T2 received plain chick booster ration immediately upon loading into the farm. Five percent of each replicate was sampled for gathering of weekly body weight gain, feed consumption and feed conversion rate (FCR). At 32 days, the chicks in Treatment 1 showed lower feed consumption (2307.00 g) and body weight that is 54.3 g heavier than those fed with plain chick booster ration (1374.5 g). Chicks given with Chick Boost® had better FCR (1.66) compared with the control (1.73). Difference in mortality was not significant. Cost effectiveness and profitability analysis showed that the use of Chick Boost® is feasible for use in a broiler operation with an increased profit of PhP 1.4 per bird.
