Abstract: DEL ROSARIO, RUEL AVILLA.” MIKKO'S RICEMILL: A CASE STUDY” Bachelor of Science in Agri business, Don Severino Agricultural College. April 1994. Adviser: Ms. Lina C. Abogadie. A case study was conducted from November 17, 1993, to January 31, 1994, Mikko' s Rice mill located at Pa langue 1, Naic, Cavite. The purpose of the study was to enable the student to apply the theoretical knowledge and skills gained in agribusiness management into actual operations. This study aimed to analyze and present the performance of the -Firm, its operation' to identify the problems encountered and to recommend possible solutions that may help the firm. The study focused on management , production, marketing, and financial aspects of the business.Primary data were gathered through direct observation OF activities, involvement in some of its operations and interaction with workers and the owner. Financial data were obtained from the record books of the firm. Other data were obtained from interviews made with workers, operators, emp1oyees , some of the customers and the owner/ manager himself .After an evaluation of the business, it was found out that 1 ow supply of Finished products are produced during rainy seasons because the supply of palay is limited and usually problem on pa lay drying occurs. These problems create a slowdown and sometimes temporary stop page of the operation. Thus, the idea capacity of the machine was not met, resulting to high cost OF production. It is recommended that there should be a regular and ample supply of pa lay for the rice mill to have continuous production of milled rice and rice bran. The owner should negotiate with farmers to acquire more pa lay in time for the rainy season. Adequate volume of stocks assures continuous operation and steady supply of rice.
