Abstract: The project was established to determine the profitability of raising 200 heads of broiler with the emphasis on the different practices involved in rearing to produce a kilogram broiler and the marketing techniques to be followed in disposing the product. This was conducted at the Poultry Project of the Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, from November 15, 1982 to January 15, 1983. The project was self-financed with a total capital of Y 13,000.00 for a period of eight weeks. Day-old chicks were carefully placed in a well cleaned and disinfected brooder, provided with a 50 watt electric bulb. Temperature was also maintained by covering the walls with empty burlaps sacks. Chicks were given sufficient space for feeding and were initially fed on cardboard and newspaper sheet. Fresh clean drinking water was made available at all times. Strict hygiene and sanitation was practiced to prevent the entrance of parasites and diseases. The birds were fed with booster mash on the first week. Broiler starter mash was given on the second to the fourth week. At the start of fifth week, they were given broiler finisher mash made up of 70% broiler starter mash and 30% corn grit. The birds were fed ad libitum. The project, however, reached a 2. 028% mortality such that out of 200 chicks, only 196 marketable birds weighing 284.2 kilograms survived. The gross sale amounted to y 53,410.40 while the expenses amounted to 12,711.90 giving a net return of 1698.50 for the whole period of production.
