The study was conducted to assess the conduct of on-the-job training program of the two colleges of the Cavite State University, namely: College of Arts and Science (CAS) and the College of Economics, Management and Development Studies (CEMDS) at Cavite State University (CvSU). The study aimed to: (1) to describe the strategies of implementation of on-the-job training program of Cavite State University (CvSU); (2) identify the different OJT centers that cooperate in the conduction of OJT program of Cavite State University (CvSU); (3) present the assessment of the college and company in terms of the conduct of on-the-job training program; (4) analyze the grading system of on-the-job training program of CEMDS and CAS; (5) identify the problems that the practicumers and company encountered during the conduct of their OJT; and (6) recommend possible solutions to address the identified problems. Descriptive statistical tools such as frequency count, mean, range, and percentages were used in presenting and analyzing the data gathered. The study covered the period from June 2004 to May 2005. Students/Company Coordinator initially scout for a firm or company where students can have their OJT, subject to the approval and endorsement of the School Coordinator and the Dean of the College. After the completion of the training, a narrative report will be submitted to the College OJT Coordinator and receive grades thereof from the latter. The respondents from CEMDS conduct their OJT in the manufacturing sector of the various companies and the those from CAS are engaged are in the service sector and media. Criteria used for the assessment of OJT trainees included: 20 percent for the quality of work, quantity of work, attitude towards work, 15 percent for attendance and punctuality, initiative and innovation and 10 percent for human relations. Most of the OJT trainees in the CEMDS and CAS have a 51 percent satisfactory performance during the whole duration of the training. Sixty percent of the respondents agree that OJT programs needs revision while 20 percent claimed that said program needs proper monitoring and have concrete guidelines. The major problem encountered by the respondents is lack of support from Colleges. Revision of the curriculum of the OJT is needed.
