Abstract: CABADING, JENELYN G. and LOQUERE, LALAINE G. Design and Installation of Security System for the Data Center of Cavite State University Main Campus. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. February 2014. Engr. Edwin Arboleda. The main objective of the study was to design and install the Security System for the Data Center of Cavite State University. Specifically, it aimed to design and construct the microcontroller unit together with the development of its software that can secure the files and equipments on the Data Center. It aimed to install the system and transmit the alarm signal on the desired locations and person. Furthermore, it aimed to determine the cost of the whole system. The design project was composed of different sensors, namely through-beam, motion, glass-break and magnetic sensor. Through-beam, glass break and magnetic sensors serve as the triggering device that will send the alarm signal through zigbee and GSM while the motion sensor serves as a trapping device that will send the solenoid lock a high signal to activate. Cameras as well as the DVR (Digital Video Recorder) were also installed. The will only record when the camera detects a motion inside the room. The design project was installed at the Data Center located at the 3m floor of IT Building of the College of Engineering and Information Technology. The transmission range of the zigbee for the alarm signal is 2,000 meters, strong anti jamming capability, flexible network and stable performance. It is enough for the receivers installed at the gates 1 and 2 to receive the alarm signal. Based on the data gathered, security measures, data transmission and the overall performance of the system were proven to be successful with the total cost of P22,329.00.
