The Development of Construction Estimating Software was made from October 2011 to February 2012 at the Department of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering and Information Technology, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. The objectives of the study were to develop an Excel - based construction estimating software that will provide an easeness and make the preparation of construction estimates fast, easy and efficient. The study also sought to understand the different methods and principles used in construction estimates as well as the wide range and beneficial usage of Microsoft Excel. The software developed was designed to estimate the cost and quantity of materials needed in the construction of buildings with reinforced concrete structural framing. The primary tool used in the study was the 2007 version of Microsoft Excel. All data such as formulas, tables, principles and techniques were based on Simplified Construction Estimate by Max. B. Fajardo Jr., and Estimating Bill of Materials by Vicente A. Tagayun. The study also included the user guidelines on how to use the software developed to maximize its usage and work according to its purpose. Based on the results, it is concluded that modern technology plays an important role to have an easy, fast and effective results of work.
