CUSTODIO. MARICEL GARCIA, Cavite State University, April 1998, " Production of Dwarfing in Two Varieties of Zinnia ( Zinnia elegans ) Using Different Concentrations of Paclobutrazol." Prof. Analita dM. Magsino, Adviser.
The response of two zinnia varieties to different concentrations of paclobutrazol ) was evaluated under greenhouse condition from December 1997 to February Potted zinnia seedling variety I Short Stuff and variety 2 Dreamland were d with 0 ppm, 3.29 ppm, 6.88 ppm and 9.87 ppm of paclobutrazol at five-leaf stage 10 days thereafter. Paclobutrazol treated plants were significantly shorter and more compact than the of plants. However,• increasing paclobutrazol levels did not significantly decrease height. Moreover, leaf production, floral bud formation and blooming were not significantly affected by the treatment. The two varieties, on the other hand, were responsive to paclobutrazol treatment in terms of dwarfness, and quality of floral and opened flowers. Variety Short Stuff produced bigger flowers but fewer leaves d to Dreamland. Significant variety x paclobutrazol level interaction was not in all parameters evaluated.
