Manuel Jr. The experiment was conducted at the Greenhouse Nursery of Central Experiment Station (CES) located in Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite to determine the effects of MykoVAMTm inoculation on seed germination, seedling growth and water stress tolerance of cacao landrace. Specifically, the study aimed to determine the effects of MykoVAMTm inoculation on seed germination and cacao seedling growth in terms of number of days to germinate, number of leaves, seedling height, root biomass (dry weight), percent root infection and water stress tolerance. The experiment was laid out following the Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The four treatments evaluated were; To- Control (unsterilized soil and uninoculated), T1- (unsterilized soil and inoculated), T2- (sterilized soil and inoculated), T3- (sterilized soil and uninoculated) replicated four times. The data were subjected to Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Comparison of treatment means was done using Least Significant Difference (LSD). On seedling germination and growth, the inoculation did not influence the number of days to germinate, number of leaves and seedling height. However, MykoVAMTM inoculation Significantly increased biomass and percent root infection. On seedling survival as indicated by percent dry leaves weeks after subjected to water stress, inoculation significantly decreased the percent dry leaves after two weeks of water stress. After three weeks of water stress, the inoculation still significantly decreased the percent dry leaves. Non-significant differences among the different treatments were observed in terms of number of leaves and seedling height. However, significant differences were observed in terms of root biomass, percent root infection, and percent dry leaves at two and three weeks after being subjected to water stress.
