Abstract: Gaimpon , Rochelle P., Don Severino Agricultural College , Indang , Cavite , March 1997 , “ Effect of Soil Solarization on the Growth and Yield of Beli Pepper ( Capsicum annuum ) “ Adviser : Mr. Carlos Rodi . The study entitled “ Effect of Soil Solarization on the Growth and Yield of Bell Pepper ( Capsicum annuum ) " was conducted to know the effect of soil solarization on the growth and yield of bell pepper and to determine the best treatment of soil solarization suited on the growth and yield of bell pepper . This was composed of four ( 4 ) treatments which were replicated three (3) times and arranged in the experimental lot using a Randomized Complete Block Design ( RCBD ) . Comparison among the treatment means was made using the Duncan’s Multiple Range Test ( DMRT ). Results of the study showed that seven’ weeks of soil solarization ( T3 ) Produced the lowest weed count while six weeks of soil solarization ( T2 ) gave the highest average length of fruits . The average height of plants , average number of leaves , percentage survival , average number of fruits , and percent of marketable fruits were not significantly affected by the treatments used . With the findings , the author recommended the use of six weeks of soil solarization (72) for better growth and yield of bell pepper .
