Abstract: This Farm Practice "Production Management of Upo (Lagenaria siceraria) Under Trellis Condition" was con-ducted at the Vegetable Production Area of the Department of Crop Science, Don Severino Agricultural College from February 1993 to May 1993. It aimed primarily to enable the student to gain actual experience in handling and managing a small scale production project. Moreover, it aimed to determine the cost and return of raising upo under trellis condition. An area of 1,000 sq. m. was cleared of grasses and stubbles to facilitate staking and digging of holes. Planting was done after digging of hole by sowing five seeds in each hole which was later thinned out to three plants per hole. Fruits were harvested when they reached the harvestable stage. A total of 720 pieces of harvested fruits were graded according to size. Class A (large) with a weight of 3 kg and above was sold at P12.00 per fruits, Class B (medium) 2 1/2 kg and Class C (small) 2 kg or less was priced at P8.00 and P5.00 respectively. Marketing was done in the public market of Indang. The project obtained a total gross income of 06,228.00. After deducting the total expenses of P4,217.00, the project gave a net income of P2,011.00. The return of investment was 47.7% which showed that for 01.00 spent, a profit of 0.47 was obtained. The author realized more than 30% of ROI, which is the objective of the project.
