OLAN VERNA C., "Growth and Yield of Bush Sitao Intercropped with Bell Pepper". BS, Thesis, Agronomy, Don SeverinoAgricultural College, Indang, Cavite, May 1999. Adviser: Dr. Vicente G. Lontoc.
The performance of bush sitao intercropped with bell pepper was studied during the dry season of 1989 in the experimental field of the Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite. An area of 400 square meters was thoroughly prepared by alternate plowin7 and harrowing twice. The two treatments were laid out using randomized complete block design with four replications. The UPLB1 variety of bush sitao and California Wonder variety of bell pepper was used in the study. The treatment used were T1 (Monocropped bush sitao) and T (bush sitao intercropped with bell pepper).
Thirty eight days after planting bush sitao started to flower. Bell pepper began to flower 29 days after transplanting. Twenty five days after flowering, pods were harvested for table purposes. Significant difference between the two treatments were observed with regards to average height at maturity, average number of pods per plant and average weight of nods. Yield of bush sitao intercropped with bell pepper decreased. However, in terms of production per unit area of bush sitao intercropped with bell pepper double-up the total production of the monocrop.
