Abstract: A farm practice project, "Intercropping of Corn and Bush Snap Beans" was conducted at Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite from June to Oc o ber 1990. The project aimed to enhance the skills of the students in the production of corn and bush snap beans. It also aimed to determine the profitability of intercropping corn and bush snap beans and consequently to encourage farmers to adopt the system. An area of 1,500 square meter field was plowed and harrowed twice with an interval of one week. Planting was done on the seventh day of June, 1990. Basal application of complete fertilizer was made at the rate of 33 kilograms per hectare. Urea 45-0-0) was side dressed at the rate of 20 kilograms 30 days after planting. The second application of complete fertilizer was done during billing up cultivation at the same rate used during the first application. Occurence of pest and diseases were observed eight weeks and four weeks after planting corn and bush snap beans, respectively. Plants were sprayed with Folidol at the rate of three tablespoons per sixteen liters of water. The corn and bush snap beans were harvested 75 to 89 days and 45 to 65 days after planting, respectively. Marketing was done right after harvesting. The total gross sales from the project amounted to P5,000.00. After deducting the overall expenses, the project obtained a net income of P2,413.52 giving a Return of Investment at 93.31%.
