The farm practice, Intercropping pi. "Gabing Tagalog" variety with Bush Sitao was conducted at barangay Lumampong Balagbag, Indang, Cavite fro June 1990 to November 1990. It aimed to develop skills and abilities in handling intercropping project; to convince the farmer to use the modern techniques in farming and to encourage farmers in Barangay Lumampong Balagbag to plant "Gabing Tagalog" intercropped with bush Sitao. A 1,500 square meters field was plowed and harrowed twice with interval of two weeks to ensure leveling of the land. Three sacks of gabi tubers were planted individually in vertical position, 75 centimeters in between rows and 75 centimeters between hills and they were covered with fine soil. Two weeks after planting, leaves were observed to have developed. For bush sitao, two kilogram seeds were used as planting materials; three to four seeds were drilled in furrows and 75 centimeters between hills. Germination took place five days after planting. " Gabing Tagalog " and Bush Sitao were harvested 183 days and 50 days after planting, respectively. Fifteen sacks of " Gabing Tagalog " were harvested and were sold at P 550.00 per sack while the Bush sitao realized a total harvest at 95 kilograms sold at P1,295.00. Both crops grossed P9,545.00. With total expenses of P3,837, a net income of P5,707.70 was realized.
