A Farm Practice Project entitled " Production of Eggplant Intercropped with Mustard" was conducted at the Experimental Area of the Department of Crop Science, Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite from August 1996 to January 1997, The project aimed to: a) demonstrate the effectiveness of Trichoderma-induced compost as organic fertilizer in the production of eggplant intercropped with mustard; and b) determine the profitability of eggplant intercropped with mustard using Trichoderma-induced compost as organic fertilizer. A 600 sq. m field was utilized in growing eggplant and mustard. The field was prepared by plowing and harrowing twice with two weeks interval between each operation. Furrowing was done with the use of a carabao drawn-plow at a distance of 100 cm. Eggplant was harvested (20) twenty times starting from the 95th day after transplanting. On the other hand, mustard was harvested only (3) three times strafing from the 47th day after planting. The production cost was P 7 ,995,47 while the gross in- come was P22,930.00. After deducting the total expenses, the project obtained a net income of P 14,934.53 giving a return on investment of 187%.
