Abstract: NATE, CYRUS JOHN EMMANUEL G., Selected Students’ Exposure to Foreign Movies and their Appreciation of the Subtitles. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, April 2015. Adviser: Dr. Bettina Joyce P. Ilagan. The study was conducted from November 2014 to February 2015 to find out the significant relationship between participants’ exposure to foreign movies and their appreciation of the subtitles. Specifically, it aimed to determine the participants’ exposure to foreign movies; the participants’ appreciation of subtitles; and the relationship between participants' exposure to foreign movies and their appreciation of subtitles. Descriptive research was used in the study utilizing survey questionnaires to gather pertinent data. Frequency counts, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson correlation were used to analyze the gathered data. | The results showed that the majority of the participants are watching foreign movies with subtitles 2-3 times a week. Meanwhile, the exposure in terms of the number of hours spent in watching foreign movies with subtitles showed that majority of the participants spent on watching foreign movies with subtitles 3-4 hours a week. Moreover, the majority of the participants agreed on the statements indicated regarding their appreciation of the subtitles. It was revealed that there is no significant relationship between participants’ exposure to foreign movies and their appreciation of the subtitles.
