PELLOS, JOANNA JOY B. and CHRISTINE JANE D. SARMIENTO. Equipment Inventory System of the College of Engineering and Information Technology. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2008. Adviser: Mr. Marlon R. Perena.
The study was conducted to develop a web-based equipment inventory system for the College of Engineering and Information Technology. It was designed for the benefit of the College Property Custodian and University Computer Central officer in charge. The system included necessary functions such as adding, editing, and viewing of equipment and computer hardware by location and NIR's, borrowing and returning of equipment and generation of reports. It aimed to create software that would lessen the hassles in recording, retrieving, monitoring, and keeping records of inventory of equipment’s and MRs under the college and provided a more efficient way of file maintenance. The system can also easily update and generate reports.
The developers used Prototyping Model as paradigm for the development of the software. The system was developed using Macromedia Dreamweaver MX as the designing tool, supported by Java Server Page (JSP) as the programming language, Tomcat as the compiler, My Structured Query Language (MySQL) as the database management system, and Apache HTTP Server.
The results of the evaluation determined the quality of the software. The study was found to be an effective tool to lessen the redundancy of records, manual labor in data storage, and provides easy access to needed records, that is more reliable, organized and faster to manipulate.
