Abstract: AQUINO, AERIS SYCAMINE G., GATPANDAN, MARICRIS H., and SUANSING, LORIEVEL C. Dealing with Crime Rate: A Study on the Effectiveness of Peace and Order Ordinance in the Selected Barangay of Dasmarinas, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2022. Adviser: Mr. Renato T. Agdalpen The study entitled "Dealing with Crime Rate: A Study on the Effectiveness of Peace and Order Ordinance in the Selected Barangay of Dasmarinas, Cavite" was conducted from April 2021 to May 2022 at Barangay Salawag and Paliparan, Dasmarinas, Cavite, and Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. The study assessed the implementation of barangay ordinances on peace and order in the Municipality of Salawag and Paliparan in Dasmariñas, Cavite. Specifically, it aimed to know the Salawag and Paliparan resident’s demographic profile such as age, gender, civil status, and educational attainment; and the crime perception of respondents towards the barangay reported crimes and the level of implementation of policies for peace and order effectiveness in terms of security. There are 398 participants in the study from the two barangays in the most populated city in Cavite area. The data were gathered through research made questionnaires and were statistically treated to describe the demographic profile distribution of respondents in terms of age, gender, civil status and educational attainment. The researchers used frequency count and percentage. In addition, the same treatment was used to discern the current situation of the selected barangays from Dasmariñas City, Cavite with barangay peace and order ordinance in terms of crime rate. To determine to what extent are the policies implemented for peace and order effective in terms of security, the researchers used mean and standard deviation. There is no correlation, or relationship, between the level of peace and order ordinance and crime rate. The analysis implies that the level of implementation of peace and order ordinance does not have significant contributions that may lead to changes in crime rate and vice versa. Thus, it is recommended to adopt effective dissemination strategies and to develop information materials to improve dissemination of new ordinances.
