Abstract: BERSABE, JAIZZA ANNE A., ROLLON, ANNIE ROSE S., VICEDO, HUBERT JUNE VICEDO. RESIDENTS’ PERCEPTION ON THE EFFECTS OF RELOCATION TO CRIME RATE IN TRECE MARTIRES CITY. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Criminology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. March 2014. Adviser: Mr. Jiemar Adji Arabani. The study titled “Resident’s Perception on the Effects of Relocation to Crime Rate in Trece Martires City” was conducted from November 2013 to March 2014. It aimed to determine the effects of relocation to crime rate. It tested the null hypotheses, there is no significant relationship between the profile of the participants from Barangay Inocencio and Barangay Aguado and their perception on the effects of relocation to crime rate. The researchers used a self-made questionnaire to gather necessary data. It composed of 1 % from the total population of Barangays which corresponds to 280 participants from Barangay Inocencio and 106 participants from Barangay Aguado. In Barangay Inocencio, majority of the participants were males with ages 48 and above. Most of them were high school graduates and were married. They had verbal interpretation of “Neutral” on the stated items about the effects of relocation to crime rate in terms of index and non - index crimes. In Barangay Aguado, most of the participants were males from ages bracket 33- 37. Many of them were college undergraduates and were married. They had also “Neutral” verbal interpretation on the stated items about the effects of relocation to crime rate in terms of index and non - index crimes. The study revealed that there is no significant relationship between the demographic profile and perceptions of the residents of Barangay Inocencio and Barangay Aguado on the effects of relocation to crime rate in terms of index crime and non — index crime. Therefore, the null hypothesis was accepted. Both participants of Barangay Inocencio and Barangay Aguado perceived that unemployment, population growth, overcrowding, and poverty were some of the factors why the relocatees committed theft and non-payment of debt. To be able to resolve these problems, the researchers highly recommended that the Local Government Units should provide trainings that would teach skills to the unemployed and even to those who have jobs but are unskilled. They may undertake livelihood projects that can augment the income of the head of families. On the other hand, the relocatees of both barangays should become active and interested with the livelihood programs given by the Local Government Units so that the commission of such crimes would be prevented.
